Essbase Studio: Creating Alias
Here is the next section in the sequence of cube designing using Essbase Studio, today we will concentrate on creating Alias! Below are the sequence of steps which are self explanatory:

Step 1: To start we need tables containing member name and respective Alias, we can have them in the same table or in a different one:
Step 2: Create alias set by right click on the folder in the metadata navigator or you can create one more folder under root folder and create alias set under it
Step 3: Give name to alias set as “Default” and then click on “+” sign. Though you can give any name, but if its other then Default then you need to go to properties and choose the Active Alias table manually
Step 4: Select “Product Name” from Product table in Binding source and select “Product Alias” from Product_Alias in Binding expression and then click “OK”
Step 5: Now you can see the created bindings in the “Bindings” and click “Ok”
Step 6: You can see the alias set on selecting Alias tab on double clicking “Product Name” under Product table as well
Step 7: You can see the alias set on selecting Alias tab on double clicking “Product Alias” under Product_Alias table as well
Step 8: Create Product hierarchy by adding “Product Name” and click “Save”
Step 9: Create measure hierarchy as “Accounts” by adding “Sales” and click “Save”
Step 10: Create Cube schema:
Step 11: Now right click on the created model and click “Essbase Properties”
Step 12: Click on the “Alias” tab and select the alias set “Default” in the selected tables by using “Add the selected alias sets to the model” option in the middle and click “Apply”
Step 13: Deploy the cube by right clicking on the created cube schema
Step 14: You can see the alias in Essbase outline
