Why My Data Form is Still Read Only...!!! There are times when we wonder why our data form is read only, there can be many reasons, various points can be checked to get rid of this. I will try to jot down few of the them which  may  take you out of this situation. 1. Refresh the database, because whenever you open a data form, Planning communicates  with Essbase to retrieve data for that combination, if the member  is not present in Essbase  then the form will be read only for a particular row if the new member is in the row. 2. Ways to create data blocks: 1. Data Load, 2. DataCopy Command, 3. Sparse Dimension Consolidation, 4. Member Formulas: 4a.  Assigning  a constant value to a sparse member, 4b. Turning Create Block on Equation setting on and  assigning  a non constant value, 4c. Create non missing blocks Data load: The moment we load data to  Essbase , It creates block for those combinations  automatically. In data copy we copy data from source to a particular destination, it this case  there is no need to create the blocks, data copy command takes care of it. FIX, REMOVE and CLEARBLOCK, You may end up with No data ;)

The FIX…ENDFIX command block restricts database calculations to a subset of the database. All commands nested between the FIX and ENDFIX statements are restricted to the specified database subset. What I know about FIX is, it takes the union of the members which are in different FIX or (Hypothetically) are repeated in the same fix, so even if you mention FIX("E1","E1","E1") it will work on "E1" and just once, not thrice! . Say you have fully populated data cube and you need to delete the data for one Entity(say E1), the fastest thing you will probably write is: FIX(@REMOVE(@RELATIVE("Entity",0), "E1")   CLEARBLOCK ALL; ENDFIX Yes, its done! This will remove the data for all the level 0 entities but not for E1.
